The Association of American Medical Colleges has projected that in 2015 there will be 63,000 fewer physicians then are needed in the US. A Microsoft executive speculated recently that future artificial intelligence applications might include a "medical doctor in a box" that could help with basic medical issues in the face of this shortage.

For example, radiologists basically focus on looking at visual images from medical devices, like X-Rays and CAT scans. Machines are getting much better at analyzing that type of visual information. Some people are thrilled at this prospect, while others are more concerned that the quality of their medical care will decrease if it is farmed out to artificial intelligence. The question is whether AI can be taught to evaluate and interpret an "abnormal pattern" on an X-Ray, and to differentiate between "abnormal" and an "abnormal finding" that is artificially created by technique and positioning. 4-5 years of training after medical school is typically required for radiologists to be able to make this distinction accurately.

Ray Kurzweil, inventor, author and futurist, predicts that The Singularity is coming in 2045 and he plans on living long enough to see it. He would be 97 at the time, and in order to survive that long and find out if his predictions will come true, Kurzweil takes 150 pills a day, some 70 to 80 different substances that radically reprogram his body's biochemistry.

In a recent interview he explained what he thought were the most important supplements on the long list: coenzyme Q10, phosphatidylcholine, and vitamin D. The benefits and risks of many health supplements are tough to quantify, and there hasn't been enough scientific study done on many of them. Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant, and phosphatidylcholine is a substance in cell membranes that we tend to lose as we age. All three substances can be found in many foods or produced in the body as a result of a healthy diet.

Ray Kurzweil has predicted that singularity will be here in a few decades, and all the wonders of technology will help you lead a rich life. But you need to stay alive till it comes. Ray Kurzweil swallows 150 pills everyday to reprogram his body's biochemistry and make it ready to take advantage of singularity.

In an interview with BigThink Ray Kurzweil talked about the three most important supplements that will help you live that long: coenzyme Q10, Phosphatidylcholine and vitamin D. These substances are very useful in slowing down the process of ageing by letting the cells cope better with day-to-day wear and tear. Ray Kurzweil contends that although these are basic chemical the body needs, most of us are not getting them, and taking them as tablets will improve quality of life.
